Bible DISCOVERY 7: Many FIRSTS in the BIBLE

Upon reading, and researching, these are the many FIRSTS I found on the Bible , from the Book of GENESIS, which may be of interest to you, too.

Why?

Because these are TIMELY, and yet PERPETUAL TRUTHS.

This was our foundation.

God created the FIRST man.

26 And God said,

Let us make man

in our image,

after our likeness

and let them

have dominion

over the fish

of the sea, and

over the fowl

of the air, and

over the cattle, and

over all the earth, and

over every creeping thing

that creepeth

upon the earth.

27 So God created man

in his own image,

in the image

of God

created he him;

male

and female

created he

them.

Genesis 1:26-27 (King James Version)

7 And the Lord God

formed man

of the dust

of the ground,

and breathed

into his nostrils

the breath

of life;

and man became

a living soul.

Genesis 2:7 (King James Version)

2 Male and female

created he them;

and blessed them,

and called their name

Adam

in the day

when they were

created.

Genesis 5:2 (King James Version)

God gives man his FIRST "assignment".

15 And the Lord God

took the man,

and put him

into the garden

of Eden

to dress it and

to keep it.

Genesis 2:15 (King James Version)

God gives man his FIRST "commandment".

16 And the Lord God

commanded the man,

saying,

Of every tree

of the garden

thou mayest

freely eat:

17 But of the tree

of the knowledge

of good and

evil,

thou shalt

not eat of it:

for in the day

that thou eatest

thereof

thou shalt

surely die.

Genesis 2:16-17 (King James Version)

God's FIRST anger at man.

11 And he said,

Who told thee

that thou

wast naked

Hast thou eaten

of the tree,

whereof I commanded thee

that thou shouldest

not eat?

Genesis 3:11 (King James Version)

13 And the Lord God said

unto the woman,

What is this

that thou

hast done

And the woman said,

The serpent beguiled me,

and I

did eat.

Genesis 3:13 (King James Version)

God metes out the FIRST punishment.

14 And the Lord God said

unto the serpent

Because thou

hast done this,

thou art cursed

above all cattle,

and above

every beast

of the field;

upon thy belly

shalt thou go,

and dust

shalt thou eat

all the days

of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity

between thee

and the woman,

and between thy seed

and her seed;

it shall bruise

thy head,

and thou shalt bruise

his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said

I will greatly multiply

thy sorrow

and thy conception;

in sorrow

thou shalt bring forth

children;

and thy desire

shall be

to thy husband,

and he shall rule

over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said

Because thou

hast hearkened

unto the voice

of thy wife,

and hast eaten

of the tree,

of which

I commanded thee, saying,

Thou shalt

not eat of it:

cursed is the ground

for thy sake;

in sorrow

shalt thou

eat of it

all the days

of thy life;

18 Thorns also

and thistles

shall it bring forth

to thee;

and thou shalt eat

the herb

of the field;

19 In the sweat

of thy face

shalt thou

eat bread,

till thou return

unto the ground;

for out of it

wast thou taken:

for dust thou art,

and unto dust

shalt thou return.

Genesis 3:14-19 (King James Version)

God creates His FIRST "fortress".

24 So he drove out

the man;

and he placed

at the east

of the garden

of Eden

Cherubims,

and a flaming sword

which turned

every way,

to keep

the way

of the tree

of life.

Genesis 3:24 (King James Version)

God establishes the FIRST two covenants -- with Noah.

18 But with thee

will I establish

my covenant

and thou shalt come

into the ark,

thou,

and thy sons,

and thy wife,

and thy sons' wives

with thee.

19 And of every living thing

of all flesh,

two of every sort

shalt thou bring

into the ark,

to keep them alive

with thee;

they shall be male

and female.

20 Of fowls

after their kind,

and of cattle

after their kind,

of every creeping thing

of the earth

after his kind,

two of every sort

shall come

unto thee,

to keep them

alive.

21 And take thou

unto thee

of all food

that is eaten,

and thou

shalt gather it

to thee;

and it shall be

for food

for thee,

and for them.

Genesis 6:18-21 (King James Version)

God gives His FIRST token, in honor of the SECOND* covenant with Noah.

12 And God said,

This is the token

of the covenant

which I make

between me

and you

and every living creature

that is

with you,

for perpetual generations:

13 I do set my bow

in the cloud,

and it shall be

for a token

of a covenant

between me

and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass,

when I bring a cloud

over the earth,

that the bow

shall be seen

in the cloud:

15 And I will remember

my covenant,

which is between me

and you

and every living creature

of all flesh

and the waters shall

no more become

a flood

to destroy

all flesh.

Genesis 9:12-15 (King James Version)

*The SECOND covenant which elicited that "token":

11 And I will establish

my covenant

with you,

neither shall all flesh

be cut off

any more

by the waters

of a flood;

neither shall there

any more be

a flood

to destroy

the earth.

Genesis 9:11 (King James Version)
